Raymond R. Betz - Chief Executive Officer, The BETZ Companies Raymond R. Betz has been in the commercial real estate investment business since 1976. Mr. Betz has sponsored over 80 commercial real estate investment and development partnerships representing real estate investments in excess of $225 million. He is considered an expert in the commercial real estate market in Houston, Texas and has expanded his company's activities to include full-service benefits of real estate investment sponsorship, development, brokerage, leasing, property management, construction, and consulting services. Mr. Betz is a Certified Public Accountant and a licensed Texas Real Estate Broker. Mr. Betz's educational background includes a Master of Science degree in Industrial Administration from the Krannert School, Purdue University, in 1967, and he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Missouri at Rolla in 1966. Prior to moving to Houston in 1970, Mr. Betz also took advanced studies at the University of Denver. Mr. Betz served as a First Lieutenant in the United States Army Corp of Engineers at Fort Belvoir, Virginia, and in Long Binh, Vietnam, in the 1968-1969 period. After Vietnam, Mr. Betz came to Houston in 1970 with the international accounting and consulting firm of Touche Ross & Company (Deloitte Touche) where he became a Certified Public Accountant and served as a Management Consultant until forming his company in 1976. Mr. Betz has been active as a real estate investor and developer for over twenty years and has taken a leadership role in important real estate and business issues including the 1993 Citizens for a Better Houston campaign and is active on the Board of Governors for the Texans for Lawsuit Reform effort in Texas. Mr. Betz serves and is active on the Board of Trustees of the University of Missouri at Rolla and has recently been recognized for his career achievement as one of the Outstanding Alumni of the University of Missouri at Rolla. He is a Trustee of the Houston Realty Breakfast Club and also serves as a board member of Trees of Houston, Inc. He is a member of the Houston Board of Realtors, the Greater Houston Builders Association, West Houston Association, Greater Houston Partnership, the "C" Club, Houston Real Estate Council, Urban Land Institute and other Houston area Chambers of Commerce and real estate organizations. Mr. Betz is a frequent speaker on the subject of real estate. Groups he has addressed included CCIM (1994, 1995, and 1996 land Forecast Competition Winner), O'Connor & Associates, and other private organizations and clubs.
